Preparing for my first stand‐up set and a competition, Christ I’m doubling up on my first night!

Doubling up on your first ever night of stand up comedy would be seen as a complete no no in the comedy world. This sort of thing isn’t really done until much later in one’s career, like 100 gigs down the road! So when I realised I’d been given a place in the ‘Amused Moose Laugh Off’ competition on the same day as my first ever stand up gig, I was seriously shitting myself.

Although I had no choice, I had thought of pulling out of the competition as the nerves were building. It asked for my best 60 – 90 seconds of material and at present I still had very little material full stop, let along a minute or so of super fantastic funny magic.

I decided to run with whatever I felt was the best on the day. Would that be a good idea or a completely terrible one?
