It’s Thursday night and tonight is supposed to be a sell out brilliant night at the Underground Comedy Club. With JoJo Smith headlining, I was confident it was going to be a brilliant night.
Though with 2 days to go before the event and no tickets sold, I was feeling panic and frustration once again.
I had done everything possible. The Line up was great. It had been Recommended by TimeOut. The price had been dropped to about five peanuts. The Facebook and Twitter interaction had been increased massively. The pub was even happy to sell tickets on the bar leading up to the event.
Though none of this seemed to be helping. Why was this event just not working? I was advised to keep going for 12 months, though today was the getting rather close to that and I really hadn’t seen a steady increase of traffic.
The traffic was more like a waves, with some bringing 40 – 50 people and others just 12 – 18. It didn’t seem to make any sense. I can’t help thinking that Notting hill just isn’t that excited about Stand up comedy.
With that in mind, I decided it was time to call it a day. Notting Hill, I have given you my best shot. Tonight is cancelled and with that it is good bye tho Notting Hill and Good bye to the Prince Edward.
It’s been a great year of learning and experimenting. We had some great nights and some slightly quite nights.
Maybe Notting Hill was the perfect place to cut one’s teeth.
