I’ve found a Cartoonist

While reading several books on cartoons and animation I’ve come to realise that I need to have a very good understanding of the way things move and years of experience in life drawing. Animation created by single framed sketches can only be believable if the people or objects move and respond the way they would in real life. It is actually the timing between frames is what creates the weight to objects.

Therefore I have decided to source a cartoonist to help me create my characters. This might seem a little crazy, but I strongly believe in surrounding myself with much better people than myself.

ToonJam - Cartoon Artists

I came across ToonJam who looked like the kind of guys to help. I loved their work and sent over some photos of me. I thought it would be best to start with some images of me as that was something I had in mind of the website.

I’ve also been thinking about my storyboards for my stand up routines. You might remember that whenever I write out my performances I give them the kiss of death, so I’ve turned to sketching them instead. I find that the sketches are very, well… sketchy, and I would love to turn these into much more detailed cartoon sketches, so I could re-read my stand-up material like a comic and refresh my memory whenever I needed.

Remember, a picture paints a 1000 words.
