New direction for Dan’s Comedy Dream

Ok, I have made a comedy direction decision. It’s been a tricky one, as it means leaving other stuff behind or at least on hold for 12 months.

I have decided to focus on… drum roll please… sketch comedy.

That’s right, this means everything else is on hold, stand‐up, sitcom writing, even ballet, all on hold. Being your typical guy, I can only focus on one thing at any time and therefore sketch comedy is the one.

Though I need a project, an idea, a focus…

Sketch groups I love include the highly established League of Gentlemen, the well polished Cardinal Burns and up and comers like Late Night Gimp Fight. I needed to think what could I create that is different…

And then it hit me… I had an idea.

I mentioned it to a few people and they all said, “ummm that’s a bit full on”… I took that as a positive. Sadly I can’t disclose too many details at this point as it would be a real pity if someone was able to run with it before I did, as I had heard this happens more often than your expect.

So I’m just going to have to call it Dan’s seriously top secret project…

The project needed a few people, equipment and possible a location. I chatted the idea through with Chris Head

Chris has been a huge support since I started sketch comedy, so I felt he was the man to help me turn this idea into a reality, or tell me it was shit, and to go home.

Luckily he loved it and said: “It’s got legs, I really like it”

Boom, that was all I need to confirm this is how I was going to waste… I mean spend my next 12 months. Chris was also able to add depth to the idea, as well as a strong hook of interest and even set up a possible meeting with someone who could help launch Dan’s seriously top secret project…

All I needed was a location and a rather nice camera… and we all know who has one of them right? better text Mr Australian Pete.

Sounds like you’re on to a winner Dan. Keep pacing forward!
I can help with camera gear etc if you need any support. 🙂

    Best of luck

      Thank you Dom,

I really feel confident this is going to be great, intense, though great. And I would love to chat about camera gear etc as I am in the process of building the film crew side of the project over the next month.

      Thanks Dan
