Underground Comedy Club

UCC presents Chris Neill: The hours before

Normally the hours leading up every Underground Comedy Club night have been filled with stress, fear, more stress, 46 quick looks at the ticket sales page, 13 feelings of sickness in the stomach and at least 3 repacks of the equipment bags.

Though today I am feeling quite calm, I actually spent the day with my 11 week old baby just hanging out.

I only checked my bag of equipment once and thought if something is missing, bollocks to it.

Thinking about it, trying to create the perfect night had actually been its downfall. Even though in the professional world of comedy the Underground Comedy Club is seen as a professionally run event, the attention to detail was possibly not always needed.

Therefore when I say… bollocks to it, I mean it will still be 8/10. But the biggest problem I realised was I was slightly trying to polish a turd.

The venues are rooms in pubs, well not in pubs, venue rooms in pubs. Christ, could you imagine trying to hold a comedy night in a busy pub! Anyway, I’m getting distracted. Bottom line I’m relaxed.
