What the hell is a Voice‐Reel?

Now it’s all great doing these courses, but in a week’s time, when the courses are complete and we are all clutching our shiny certificates, there is going to be that all important question: “How the hell am I going to use these skills?”

Well the next step is to create a voice reel and get it to either an agent or to companies who are looking for a voice just like mine.

A voice reel is a selection of readings that show off the very best my voice can do. But there is plenty to choose from and a reel tends to be only a few mins long.

The main thing in the reel would involve adverts, narration, audiobooks, songs, poems or multi‐voice pieces.

Now obviously if I have no interest in singing or poems, there would be little point in adding those as that would attract the wrong responses.

At the moment I am interested in audiobooks for kids, pieces with multiple voices and adverts. I say audiobooks for kids as I have a playful cheeky voice that would possibly not suit a serious book. Also being asked to read 600 pages might actually kill me!

I’ve no idea where to get the reel sorted yet, but I’ve been informed it’s going to cost around £300! Balls.
